Overview:

Situated near a stunning fjord, this campsite is ideal for those looking to immerse themselves in nature. The camping area offers a blend of rugged, yet organized outdoor living, with facilities carefully designed to make your stay comfortable, including a communal kitchen and firepit which enhance the social atmosphere.

Key Considerations:

- Accessibility: While the top camping sites boast magnificent views, reaching them requires a 10-15 minute hike that might be challenging for those with heavier equipment or young children. - Comfort Facilities: The campground features a well-equipped communal kitchen with essentials like a BBQ, fridge, and more, which adds a layer of convenience. The shower and toilet facilities are noted to be limited but are undergoing upgrades. - Social Environment: The communal spaces foster a friendly environment, allowing campers to engage and share experiences with fellow travelers. - Nature Interaction: Be prepared for a natural setting, which includes the occasional presence of mosquitoes.

Tips:

Opt for staying in the main camp area if you prefer proximity to kitchen and social amenities. If camping with children, keep in mind the terrain and consider staying at the base. Engage with staff like Aurelie, who are well-informed and helpful regarding local attractions and services.

Overall Thoughts:

Au Sommet Du Fjord offers a unique blend of adventure, community, and tranquility, ideal for campers who appreciate a scenic backdrop combined with the simplicity of outdoor living. We reserved a place with a fjord view, which was really nice and the option to make a fire with prepared wood was a big plus + lot of blueberries everywhere. We had a light tent, so the 10-15 min hike from parking place was no problem for us, but if you have a big tent with small kids, I would take it into account and maybe stay in the base. The base has a nice and equiped kitchen and currently only one shower and toilet (but new ones are currently built I think). Structure design is a bit interesting, as it isn't very protected against wind/rain 🙂, but maybe there was a different reason for it I didn't notice during our stay. The option to stay in the common place in kitchen was a nice plus. The staff was extremely nice and spoke english well.

A friend and I stayed at this campsite last week in a tent and were very impressed. The campsite is well maintained, small and quiet. The site itself was small and had no firepit but the base well prepared for drainage and easy to set up on. This is car camping yet you cannot bring your car to your site, however that actually turned into a positive as it meant there was not any movement of cars around the campground (The car could be parked fairly close). The big bonus was the summer kitchen with fridges, small freezer, stove, BBQ, kettle, toaster, coffee makers etc, plus other basic kitchen equipment and basic supplies. The kitchen shelter and the communal firepit was an awesome facility and gathering place, it was easy to meet people here. Shower room and separate toilet and sink were rustic but attractive and clean. Lots of hot water to the excellent shower, the flush toilet and sink with hot water was great too. The only complaint would be that there was only one toilet that often led to a line. The cliff top sites are good but they are a steep 10-15 minute hike each way and although the view is amazing you would miss out on the kitchen/social facilities of the main camp area. Staff were very friendly, specially Aurelie who was a great source of information on places to visit and even took care of booking our whale watching for us. A great visit, highly recommended.

We stayed here just for one night. We've been eaten by the mosquitoes alive despite the fact that we used the anti-mosquitoes products. This is was my first experience of camping and it was completely ruined. I asked the staff if there is any time limit to prepare meals in the kitchen, they said it'll be open all day-night long, so after 10 pm we went to prepare the dinner and guess what, the light is off, and we find a hard time to turn it on so we can see what are we doing. Forget to take a shower or go to the bathroom at night, the light was off. I asked the staff in the morning and they said it's weird. We tried to reach the top of the mountain and believe me it is definitely not in 10-15min unless you're an athlete or professional, it was very hard and rough. And we didn't even rewarded by the sunset view because it was cloudy. I wanted to spend the night in the top platform, but it was impossible with a 2 y.o child (not safe). ++++ The only thing that was excellent, was the staff, they were all responsive and gave us a great welcoming, they check on us every time we see each other, most of them are bilingual. So thank you all. Review update To the owner: I was excepting such response from you, because i saw how you responded to other negative reviews before. Know that being sarcastic and irresponsible just means that you can't really handle your business. Especially when having benevolent instead of paid employees. But turn off the light on the premises at night?! That's shows a lot. Advice: you can take some courses of managment and customer service but i highly doubt that it's going to cure you from greed and rudeness.

Beautiful, clean and welcoming. We were able to hike up to see the "Belvedere" a beautiful view of the fjord just 10 minutes away. We loved being able to prepare some meals, use the BBQ, the hot tub and sit by the cozy stove and play games. We enjoyed meeting other travelers and sharing stories. Benoit, Julie and other staff were friendly and went out their way to host everyone and meet their needs.

Great location for camping ! The hostel is really nice and has some history that the owner was happy to tell. The outdoor "summer kitchen" is really convenient to cook and share a meal with others. People working here were great. Amazing experience!
