Important Considerations

  • Tent Camping: The tent area is a large grass field with a limited number of fire pits and tables. You may need to come prepared to share or bring additional equipment.
  • Restroom Facilities: Showers and restrooms are located within the RV section and the shower operates on coins. Finding the host for coins might be a challenge.
  • Noise Levels: Due to its proximity to a highway, an airport, and nearby farms with multiple dogs, noise can be significant, especially at night.
  • Garbage Disposal: The tent area has a small garbage can that may overflow. It can be useful to bring your own waste bags.
  • Water Temperature: Be cautious with the water temperature in the showers as it may fluctuate when nearby facilities are used.

User Tips

  • Bring earplugs: To mitigate the noise from the surroundings, especially if you are tent camping.
  • Carry change for showers: Having loonies on hand will make accessing the showers easier.
  • Enjoy the Trails: Take advantage of the scenic trail to the nearby beach for a relaxing walk.

Overall Thoughts

Beehive RV Park & Campground is a pleasant and convenient site for those looking to explore the Shawnigan lake area and nearby beaches. While it offers a welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff, it is better suited for RV campers who are less affected by the surrounding noise. Tent campers should be prepared for noise and possibly crowded facilities. Overall, it provides a decent camping experience with beautiful trails and a good location.

Probably not the best spot for tenting. Tent area is just a big grass field with a few fire pits and tables but not enough for each site to have their own. The shower and washroom is pretty far away in the RV section and the shower is coin operated. Finding the host to get loonies wasn't easy. The beach path nearby is a nice little walk.

It’s a great private campground. The rent area is very nice, there’s a trail to a beach and it’s not far away from Shawnigan lake and other beaches. I’ve been there for only a night but I’d definitely come back again

The staff are accommodating (they let me change spots twice) but this place is right between the highway and the airport and across the road from a farm that has at least 10 dogs in their yard. 3 times in the first night all the dogs in the area kicked up barking and howling like crazy. And there were low-flying large planes overhead all night. There's just no way they can overcome the level of noise at this location. Maybe if you're in a soundproofed RV it's fine, but with a tent I wouldn't recommend it. Bring good earplugs at least. Also they have 1 tiny garbage can for the entire tent area. It was overflowing when I left and the place wasn't even 10% full. So idk what's up with that. Just buy a bigger garbage can?

Right now there is a dog barking non stop at 1:15 am and has been barking for the last hour. The site we are in is constantly noisy at night due to the traffic The shower in the ladies can scald you if someone flushes a toilet or runs cold water.
