What to Expect:

  • Location: Seclusion from the highway yet close enough to amenities in town.
  • Facilities: Ample, clean port-a-potties with some areas offering full hookups. No showering facilities.
  • Scenery: Beautiful river views and picturesque mountain landscapes.
  • Environment: Generally quiet, but potential for noise from nearby boat launches and passing trains.
  • Activities: Ideal for basic camping needs, though the river is not safe for swimming due to strong currents.

Tips and Considerations:

  • Best suited for campers who prioritize proximity to amenities and a straightforward setup process.
  • If you prefer more privacy, be aware that there is little segregation between campsites, and not many trees for shade or seclusion.
  • Consider bringing earplugs if you are sensitive to noise from trains or early morning boat launches.
  • Enjoy local amenities nearby for supplies and a great coffee.
  • The campground is within a manageable driving distance from Vancouver, making it a convenient option for a weekend getaway.

Overall Thoughts:

Cheam Fishing Village and Campground offers a practical and accessible camping experience with beautiful surroundings. While it lacks some amenities like showers and site segregation, it excels in providing clean facilities and attentive hosts. Its proximity to town and ease of access make it a solid choice for those looking for a convenient camping spot rather than a secluded retreat.

Dry Tent camped away from the river so there is some shade. Along the river it’s a parking lot of RVs. Easy book and check in online process so driving up and setting up was smooth. Lots of clean portapottys available. Good cell signal. Can be quite noisy with boat launches starting at 7am and trains rolling by often. River isn’t safe for swimming in due to strong current and it’s quite silty. Quiet on site otherwise and hosts seemed attentive. Close to local amenities for supplies and great coffee. Great spot if you just need a space for your tent but not much in the way of a secluded getaway. Great if you want to be within 3hrs of Vancouver. I can’t comment on the RV side.

This is a lovely campground. Lots of porta-potties, serviced once a week. Respectful campers, quiet by ten. The swimming hole was perfect and about a 7 minute walk from our campsite. Many spots along the river for RVs. Tent spots were grassy. Group spot was roomy. Cons- not a lot of trees. Train goes by every couple of hours and was a bit annoying at first. Got used to it pretty quickly. Had a wonderful week and hope to go back next year.

Hosts are great! Beautiful campground you wouldn't even know was there, off the path from the highway but close enough if you needed to you could run to town to get what you need. Our site was great they accommodated six of us campers. we were able to set up exactly how we wanted the area to ourselves. Nice close walk to the river, beautiful mountainviews, trees all around. There are quite a few porta potties, some areas have full hookups

Our campsite plans fell through for the night and we stumbled on cheam campground. I called at 6pm the day that we needed a site and Noelle set us up with a great riverside campsite. Her customer service was amazing. We had a wonderful evening. The riverside sites are beautiful & porta potties were clean!

Never seen a camping spot with no seggreation between camp sites, no bushes, no trees and no showering facilities. The washrooms were port-a- potty. Not a fan. View was beautiful with the river and the mountains but that was it for the positives.wouldnt go back again.
