Located just outside Elk Island park and offering various types of accommodation (tent, hut, yurt, dome, caravan, RV) within a forest setting. We only spent one night in the Aspen yurt, but it was definitely a memorable experience. Unfortunately the heating didn't provide any heat (despite I even downloaded the manual) so it was a bit chilly overnight.

Just attended a wedding here and stayed in one of the yurts and it was an excellent experience. The campground is easy to navigate and a unique experience. All the staff I interacted with were very friendly and helpful. Special shoutout to Shweta and Anita who were our bartenders for the evening. They were so sweet and a lot of fun to chat with over the night!

We recently had our August 2024 wedding at Elk Island Retreat & it couldn’t have been more perfect. I was mainly in communications with Anita & Shweta who were always very responsive and so kind. They made the wedding planning experience easy and fun. My husband & I stayed out in the Eagle’s Nest dome which was so clean and cozy. Great to have an option for air conditioning & a fire place for hot fall days and cool fall nights. The bridal party got ready in the Dome which was so cozy and intimate. We had 80 people attend our wedding and it was the perfect venue size. Our entire guest list commented on the venue’s beauty & the charming bartenders in the bar (Shweta & Anita haha) The venue has such a unique beauty to it. We capped off the night with a beautiful glimpse of the northern lights dancing across the Big Dipper. We invited the owner, Rick, to come visit around our campsite the following night. We thoroughly enjoyed his company and stories. We love the family feel out there! We couldn’t have chosen a better venue & we can’t wait to visit Elk Island Retreat in the future :) Thank you! K&J

Really nice getaway to experience nature close to the city. A mixture of cabins and yurts spread out in pleasant woodland. They've gone for quality over quantity - even if they doubled the number of rooms, there would still be lots of privacy between each cabin. We stayed in the Woods Cabin in April. Very nicely furnished, with a small fridge/freezer and a gas fireplace with an easily-used remote control thermostat. Each cabin comes with a its own high-end BBQ, a fire pit, and a picnic table. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Everything was spotless. In particular, the outhouses are the best drop toilets I've ever seen (or smelled). Northern Lights weren't active when we were there, but the lack of light pollution meant that the stars were very impressive. As a bonus, a very talented musician put on a free show on the Saturday afternoon. There's also a nice nature walk (~2km, not completely flat but still easy terrain). Overall, we strongly recommend staying here, and we will be back within a couple of years.

After our wedding, we needed a quiet place to decompress that was nearby. My wife loves to look at the stars at night so we decided to rent one of the geodomes at Elk Island. The place had everything we needed; it was spacious and very comfortable. When we did we realize we were out of a few things, we talked to Kayla at the front who was super helpful. Would highly recommend!
