Tips and Important Considerations

  • Check-in Time: Be aware of the check-in time and office hours, as the office closes at 8 PM.

  • Cleanliness: Visitors have reported that bathrooms are not always cleaned daily, and cleanliness may depend on guests' efforts.
  • Customer Service: There have been mixed reviews regarding the attitude and helpfulness of campground staff.
  • Parking: The park offers ample space but might lack sufficient parking during peak times or events.

Overall Thoughts

Fort Lions Campground offers a basic camping experience with essential amenities like fire pits and picnic tables. However, it may fall short in customer service and communication regarding check-in policies and additional fees. If you value seamless service and spotless facilities, it might be prudent to explore other options. Those who are flexible and prepared for self-reliance might find it an adequate choice for a short outdoor getaway.

I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience with Fort Lions Campground. From start to finish, the customer service was rude and dismissive. Firstly, I was not informed about their cancellation policy when I made my booking. This lack of transparency is unacceptable and left me feeling blindsided when I needed to cancel my reservation. When I reached out to their customer service to discuss this, I was met with rude and dismissive behavior. Instead of offering assistance or understanding, the representative seemed more interested in getting me off the phone as quickly as possible. I let Brenda know that they should inform their customers about their cancellation policy on their website. Her response was I don’t do this website then I commented about letting customers know during booking, and there was no reply. I cancel a week before arrival due to unforeseen mechanical problems to my vehicle and was still charged for a full day and cancellation services for the campground. Overall, the lack of communication regarding their policies and the rude attitude of their staff have ensured that I will never use Fort Lion's campground services again. I strongly advise others to be cautious and look elsewhere.

We stayed there a week ago and was an absolute terrible experience! We typically will pick Lions Campgrounds in the province as we have had such great experiences and wonderful hosts and facilities…. Well not this time!! It took us a couple hours to drive there only to arrive to have a paper with our name on it taped to the office door which was fine but.. only to find out we needed to put a $20 deposit on the bathroom key! We were tenting so we definitely needed those facilities and we paid to have them! No where during booking or on their website does it state you need to arrive prior to 8pm obtain a key! We had to knock on the hosts camper door to get help only to find the man in a housecoat, grumpy, miserable. We advised we needed a key! The woman just yelled behind him “we close at 8pm” well at this point I’m not very happy either!!! I said “had we known we would have been here before 8pm” what a terrible way to greet guests into this campground! Thank gawd we got the key! We only stayed two days but felt so uncomfortable there. Bathrooms were not cleaned daily! They tell you on their website that guests are to keep the bathrooms clean! Actually it is the hosts job to clean the bathrooms and if that’s not possible then pay someone to clean them! Sunday morning came around and we couldn’t get out of there fast enough! We packed up and walked to the office to return the bathroom key and get our money back. No one was there! We saw the female host come out of one of the buildings so my daughter thought she would walk over to her to let her know we were returning the key, greeted this woman with a good morning only to be talked to is such a rude and very unprofessional, unpleasant manner! We will NEVER stay there again due to these people! If you can’t be welcoming and respectful, and provide proper communication as to your rules to your guests then maybe being campground hosts is not the job for you! Clearly you don’t enjoy it! This is a 100 percent reflection on Fort Saskatchewan! To allow this behaviour to visitors in your city is appalling! I emailed the Fort Saskatchewan Lions Club and never even received a response. IF YOU ARE THINKING ON STAYING HERE… KEEP DRIVING! Read the other reviews before you book! We didn’t and totally regret it! You bet I’ll tell everyone I know!

campground owners were very rude and dismissive. we were not told what time we were allowed to check in until as we left when we were done work and had a 2 hr drive to the campground (arrived at 8:30pm) when we arrived, our booking was taped to the office with our site number which was good, but on the back it said the bathrooms were locked and you needed a key ($20) deposit but the office is closed at 8pm (which we were unaware of the key situation AND the closing time of the office) would have been nice to know all this before we got there so we could have cash ready for a deposit or made other arrangements to get a key without causing an inconvenience to the hosts. also $20 is so ridiculous for a key deposit. a code on the bathroom door would be nice, especially when you can’t arrive within office hours. the day of our checkout, we went to return our key and get our deposit back and the host was so so rude and incredibly unpleasant. absolutely will not be staying here again unless by some sort of miracle the campground gets new, pleasant hosts. really unfortunate as fort sask. is beautiful and we would like to stay there again but unfortunately this campground is one of the only places to stay.

Celebrating 4 family members' birthdays at the park. The weather was fantastic, plus it was so open with plenty of firepits and picnic table. The only thing that I found to be short of was the parking.
