A fantastic campground that is near a river. Ten minutes from Bragg Creek and less than an hour from Calgary. Serviced, unserviced and tent only sites available. Note that there have been changes to the site layout and the campground map on non-Alberta government websites are out of date (ex. Site 74 and 75 after now 72 and 73)

Just got back from Gooseberry Campground where I stayed for few days on my teardrop trailer. Place is kept relatively clean, bathrooms are smelly but that’s because few folks bother to keep the lid down. The guys who tend the camp inspect few times daily and also ask for firewood $10/bunch. Unfortunately the use of a generator from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM is not respected, last night some guys started the gas generator 1:30 AM and ran it til early morning. Nobody went to tell them in the middle of the night… it was close to the camp attendants, they should’ve heard but… Towards the end of the camp (from entrance) you will hear cars passing the Texas gate near by… can be annoying, or you will just get used to it as I did. I stayed near the end, close by the creek. Dogs… most people with dogs will keep on long leashes, but more often than not, some odd couple would decide to make their own rules, so expect surprises in this regard. Overall, a nice close by location, generator use is a problem though… few people left earlier because of that.

Could be great but some genius working for the Alberta government decided to put a cattle guard at each end of the campsite so it's constantly noisy. They could have put them 200 feet further away and had the same effect, but no, they stuck them right next to the campsites so you get to here *bang! brrrrrt" every 30 seconds from 7am to 1am

Access to the Elbow River from the campsite. Sites are treed. We've seen beaver, deer, lots of birds. Easy access from Calgary.

Great campground and very quiet. Right beside the river for walks.
