The Kelso Cove water park is an awesome way to spend a hot summer day. A must visit.. but not for everyone, including me. 😊 First thing you have to reserve the spot online which is a little lengthy process given the details and waivers. Here, please note that participants under 9 need to have an adult over 16 with them, inside the water park. Typical swim suit isn’t mandatory but loose clothing isn’t permitted. Once you enter the Kelso Conservation area and get to the parking area, you will see the white and blue floating structure next to the Cove admission. You can check in there, get a wrist band. a life jacket. Take off your extra clothes and slippers and get to the board area. Pretty straight forward till..The lifeguard there tests you for a short swim, which is more like a floating with confidence test. Which I failed miserably. So they didn’t let me get to the structure. Although the swim to the structure is nothing! Just a few strides but I just couldn’t do it. Maybe because the water is like 16-20 ft deep and I freaked out. But there were so many people- of all ages, having so much fun. It is basically an obstacle course on water, so one needs to be fit to keep up with the challenges and all the action around. The slots are 2 hours but they ask you to leave 15 min before time for the next slot. Maybe it’s different for the last slot of the day. After the adventure on the water park, one can have a picnic, go to the beach or head back home but all in all it is a must do to beat the summer heat. The staff is great, helpful , on the move and nice. The park is amazing. Lots of parking, lots of fun. There is enough space for beach chairs and lots of seating in front. I plan to come back, after I finish my swimming for dummies classes. 😆 Highly recommend this activity this and any summer!

This is a cute and nice lake to visit with family. The beach itself is down a set of stairs. There is lots of space for picnicking. The establishment has multiple washrooms and lots of shady trees to settle under and enjoy the day. The beach is nice but a little rocky. They have lots of rules about swimming and using floaties in designated areas. It's a nice place to visit with the family.

This beach is very clean and the boardwalk is nice. Swimming on the other hand was not for us! When you read there's a lot of rules ... Feels like an understatement. Here are some of the rules we encountered. 1) swimming only inside the buoys if you are outside the buoys you must stay at knee level regardless of age . 2) floaties are only allowed in the shallow area( first line of buoys) 3) no life jackets , pool noodles or any floating device in the deep end. .... These rules were a shock to us . I truly believe this is great for younger kids or adults that want to paddle or relax in the deep end undisturbed.

Entry charge is 13 dollars per adult. Average big city beach. Peak hours are crowded and unpleasant. Long, narrow set of stairs from parking to beach area. Outdoor tap for foot washing, located next to washrooms. Going barefoot seems unsafe and will likely result in poop between your toes. Predominantly south asian demographic.

Rent a kayak with my kid, a lot of fun, staffs in the park were really helpful.
