Laurie Provincial Park offers a beautiful natural escape with its stunning tall pine trees and a serene lakeside setting. The park is well-known for its cozy camping atmosphere and lush greenery.
Tips and Important Considerations
- Location and Facilities: The park is conveniently located minutes away from Irving Big Stop for any immediate needs. The bathrooms and showers are generally well-maintained and appreciated by visitors.
- Reservation and Camping Tips: If you are planning to book a campsite, consider sites 56-63 for a picturesque water view and average privacy. Avoid sites near the bathrooms, such as place 20, to maintain a quieter experience.
- Self-Service Nature: The park operates on a self-service basis with no personnel at the reception. This means you may encounter some issues with enforcement of quiet hours and park rules. Be prepared for a less controlled camping environment.
- Park Inventory: Some of the park's furnishings, like picnic tables, may be old and worn out. Exercise caution when using them.
- Signage: Navigation within the park can be challenging due to a lack of clear signage. Be prepared to explore a bit to find your way around.
- Unexpected Noise: Visitors have noted train noise late at night and early morning, which can be surprising but also adds a unique charm for some.
Overall Thoughts
Laurie Provincial Park offers a beautiful and natural camping experience with great potential for a serene escape. However, prepare for some challenges related to self-service management, outdated park inventory, and occasional noise disruptions. With its picturesque views and lush environment, it's certainly worth a visit, especially if you enjoy a laid-back camping style.

There are no personnel at the reception. Kind of self service, which is good, but on the opposite side - no one checks the park rules. People on this campground did not respect quiet hours at all. I could not sleep because of laughter and loud talks near the bathroom building. At 1 am someone started using an axe to cut the firewood. This all lasted to 2:30 3 am until it became silent. The park inventory is pretty old. Our picnic table was seeing its last year of service for sure, since it wanted to fall apart when we were sitting on its benches :) ( I am 60kg, not sure if it could handle 100kg people) Overall the nature was beautiful, tall pine trees, lake, cozy atmosphere makes this park worth visiting, but I personally am not sure I will want to repeat this again soon. At least I would look for the place far away from the bathrooms. P.S. if booking, avoid place 20 and others next to it.

Train late night early am rattles ground and blows whistle... Kind of cathartic but we weren't expecting it. Nice wooded sites, great bathrooms

We decided to check out Laurie Provincial Park as we had never been there before. Unfortunatley it was closed for the rest of the year so we couldn't drive in. Wr parked before the bridge in a small parking lot and walked it. It would be an ideal spot to camp in the summer. It has beautiful views over the lake with nice treea and even a proper fire pit with each camp ground from what I could see. The real area of opportunity for this campground is signage or lack there of. There is zero signage with roads interwining it is very difficult to navigate as it is not a straight forward road layout. This is my main reason for rating this park 4 stars.
