Where to begin….. we arrived 6:30pm on July 22,2024. (We stayed for 10 days) The only thing going for this place is the beach! (The two stars are for the beach) I am a very easy going person, and can look past most situations, however there were a few things that just need some major attention. The sites are very small, which is fine they are smaller sites but don’t state they can fit 40/ft plus on your site. If you have a larger unit you can’t have a fire in your lot as it would be right beside your camper. (People across from us had to pull the fire pit where you would park your vehicle so it was away from their camper) If you have slide outs you are basically using the whole site. We were supposed to be in site 4 when we got there it had been freshly gravelled, (which is completely fine if it was put down properly and packed, but it wasn’t.) We almost got stuck, luckily site 1 was open so we were able to wiggle our camper into that spot, otherwise we would have had to leave. Our friends we were camping with went to the office while we were trying to figure all this out And told the lady running the campground of us almost getting stuck, and if we could use site one. She said yes, but didn’t come out to see us once or apologize for us not being able to use the site we booked, or even look at the site that we almost got stuck in and just left massive ruts in because of improper re-gravelling. (They let another family camp in this site with massive ruts and not once come out to check on them or fix the gravel) The campground garbage truck is right beside site one and by the clubhouse, it is extremely smelly, for sure needs to be hauled more often to the dump to prevent extreme odours, especially when the temperature is higher like it has been. One day at the park which is right beside the laundry and shower/bathroom house the septic tank lid was off… THAT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT OKAY, there is just a rock holding the lid on, get a locking lid on that tank before something really bad happens. There was never anyone in the office to ask questions, to check in to our site or check out. The icing on the cake- Our friends had stayed at this campground last year and was told by the owners daughter that they could launch their boat and park by the launch no problems at all. So we went down to the boat launch (there is no signs saying you cannot leave your truck and boat trailer) when we launched the owner (male) came out of his cabin yelling and swearing at us (in-front of our kids) to not be parking our vehicles and became very verbally aggressive, We asked who is running the campground he said his daughter so we asked to speak to the daughter. He wouldn’t get her so our friend had to go and get her to clear this matter up. It took almost 35 minutes for the male owner to calm down and let us finally go fishing. There is also no filleting station or anywhere to put fish waste. My suggestions Have someone in the office or a way of getting ahold of someone so you can get information, or in there are any problems. Signage at boat launch, and rules/directions) filleting station and fish waste site) Locking septic cover, and make sure the lid is always on. Update site on camper sizes that can Actually fit in the site. And figure out who runs the place and makes the rules…. Seasonals may know the rules, but daily rentals we don’t know unless you are there to tell us! It is a beautiful area, I think with some work it would be a great place to go again. But until then we would not recommend.

Enjoyed our first stay here (site 8), very happy to have found this campground. We hauled our own water up, as there was a boil water advisory. No cell service area* once you leave power view area. But the campground has wifi available near the campground office! (or bring your own starlink). There is a rv dump site, however i didnt see running water for cleanup(yet) looks like there will be, but we had extra in the camper. Campground staff are amazing and very helpful. The bugs weren't bad for our stay even with fresh rain. Thermacell and coils managed the few mosquitos that we did have. But it cooled down enough that they went away. Looking forward to our next stay!

We tented at mantago campground this year and we loved our camping spot, beautiful view, I feel they could definitely clean the campground up a bit more but overhaul it was great, loved that this campground has private sites so you can’t see everything your neighbors are doing and the owners were amazing!!!

I first got a lot Mantago Bay in 2020 and left in 2023. I will give an honest the assessment of my time there. It is less expensive than most places but you pay for what you get. You must haul or arrange for water at your site, grey and black water must be hauled to waste stations, no picnic tables/fire pits, outhouses are not emptied regularly and get ripe later in the summer, no cell service and takes over two hours to get the site from the city. Lots are incredibly spacious and more private than most other RV resorts. However, the newer sites are roughed in require a lot of work – especially ours. The fill they placed does not compact well (mostly sand and boulders), the trees and brush cleared during the clearing of lots are just pushed into the surrounding vegetation and left to rot. It is not only unsightly, rotting trees contribute to the proliferation of long horn beetles – primary decomposers. I spent weeks clearing brush and trees from around my site. I was told when I accepted our site that further levelling would be done prior to arrival, but this was not the case. It took weeks of backbreaking work to remove windrows, lips along the edges, and piles of discarded fill (from a trench they put in) by hand. The road to the site is washboard ridden and is seldom graded. It was so bad one year that screws on the floor of my boat had all come loose. Fortunately it is only a 7 km drive off Provincial Road 304. During the weekend the place is a rocking and there is a lot of uncontrolled partying. I have seen intoxicated people driving quads, staggering down the road and lots of shouting. It is very quiet during the week, so if you are a nature nut like me this would be a more ideal time to camp. There are lots of amenities including; a small basket ball court, horse shoe pit, trails for biking/off roading, 3 hole golf course, playgrounds, great fishing, a boat launch (smaller craft), ladder ball, out houses, wifi at the camp offices and a beautiful beach. The camping season is very short, running from the May long weekend to mid-September. If you wish to camp beyond September you will pay $10 per day. I did camp beyond the September cutoff date and the weather was fine right up until mid October. I saw no reason they couldn’t extend the season and increase rents for tenants who wished to stay longer. They do have washrooms, laundry, and showers. They are older but clean and well maintained. The bugs are incredibly bad compared to other resorts I have stayed at. Especially ticks in the spring, horseflies in the early summer, mosquitoes throughout, and house flies that bite. I recognize bugs are bad everywhere, but this is on a different level. Bring a screen tent and check for ticks. Though deer ticks (Lyme Disease causing ticks) are less common, they have been found in the area. The staff for the most part are friendly. Joanne is friendly and engaging, but Clarrisa (who manages the resort) seems to less accommodating – from my perspective if you are not a friend or relative you get the cold shoulder. She never gets back to you on most things. I am not sure how fire wood works, but I felt ripped off. We bought a load of wood for $90 dollars and $35 for the sack containing the wood. When we asked about more wood we were told they were no longer using the sacks and we lost our deposit. After that we started salvaging wood from fallen trees at a nearby borrow area. A lot of work but a nice way to spend the day. There are safety issues regarding trees around some lots. I had a large tree fell across my lot and one had fallen on my water tank – narrowly missing my camper. I have other trees on my site, damaged during clearing, that appear ready to go. I also noted this same damage on other sites. An assessment of trees should be undertaken to identify and remove damage and potentially dangerous trees. Be vigilant and do your own assessment.

My family and I have been camping here for 20 years now (since I was 5 years old). We love this campground! It’s been a big part of our lives. The owners have always been amazing! They have always tried to ensure there was enough for kids to do and play. Over the years they’ve added play structures, ping pong, giant chess, ladder ball, horseshoe game, lawn bowling area, beach volleyball, and golfing. The beach is alway maintained and well taken care of. Not to mention all the events they put together every year for all the Mantago Bay campers. I can’t say enough good things about this campground.
