The best campground and staff ever. No campground in Alberta can beat them in all categories. John, I believe the manager or owner is exceptional. He saved me and family countless number of time while were camping here. First time, my truck died and he navigated the situation but giving us a site and moving our trailer using his own truck. He checked on us or make sure we were okay all the time. The girls at the store seems to have great day each time you go. They are respectful, kind, knowledgeable and very helpful. The trails are well kept, wild life is great here. We didn’t see bear but there deers, cows and birds. The sites are leveled, spacious and with a lot trees. They have all kinds of sites ranging from powered to unserviced and it available whole year round.The pond has a lot of geese. I highly recommend McLean. Beautiful campground and closed to Bragg creek where you can grab almost everything.

We loved it here! Our first stay was this July, for 3 nights. The area is beautiful, lots to explore nearby. We stayed in a pull through site which was SO nice for parking our trailer. The store at the entrance is fun, many random items and snacks, and staff there were very helpful with suggestions for things to do nearby. We also loved exploring the campground on our bikes, there are many trails and the place is huge! Keep in mind there is no cell service in the campground (which we didn’t mind). We also noticed there weren’t many conservation officers around, and many people had fires despite the fire ban. Also there were many people there obviously in the area to off road - we rarely heard any off road vehicles. It was quiet and not bothersome at all! We would certainly come back!

Spent 4 days here, and of August just before the long weekend. Lots are spacious, regular vaults, water accessible every few hundred feet, clean and sometimes quiet. Main office has showers, snacks and much of what you may need camping, not a grocery store but decent. Showers work with tokens, decent price and enough time for one token to get a shower. Bad part… ohv, dirt bikers are making a mess around. Most would come to use the bathrooms and they leave an absolute mess behind. Parking gets full or muddy vehicles, oil stains, damaged vehicles use parking lot as service stop, drinking, dogs off leash chasing people… absolute mess. Not sure why nobody takes care of that, these guys get rating down the drain. Will probably return off season, when these guys are not around.

Awesome place to go camping with the family! If you have the toys to go off-roading bring them, lots of trails to go on and explore. There are bathrooms near the sites and there's water right beside the bathrooms. Showers are at the front. there's a store too if you forget some stuff. I am going back every year

CAMPSITES McLean Campground has a mix of campsites for camping in a tent or pulling up in an RV. There are basic tent sites for those who want a real outdoor experience and powered RV spots for those who prefer a few more comforts. GROUP SITES If you’re going with a larger group, the group sites make it easy to stay close together. It’s in the woods, so you will have some privacy between sites, but expect to hear OHVs in the distance. RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES This place is an off-roading site. If you’re into riding ATVs or dirt bikes, McLean is one of the top spots near Calgary for that! The trails are well marked, and there’s something for every skill level. Be sure to stick to the designated trails. If you’re not into using OHVs, there’s still lots to do. The hiking and biking trails offer some nice views of the foothills, though be ready to share the paths with other riders. For a more relaxing day, the nearby McLean Creek has spots for fishing, and the area is good for canoeing as well. Wildlife sightings are common, so you might see deer or elk wandering around the edges of the campground. AMENITIES McLean Campground has what you need, but don’t expect luxury. Fire pits and picnic tables come standard at each site, and there are pit toilets that are kept fairly clean. There are water stations scattered around, but not all areas have them, so it’s a good idea to bring extra water just in case. If you’re bringing kids, they’ll appreciate the playground. Bathrooms are not that great. More servicing by camp staff would be helpful. Sanitation could improve. OHV RESTRICTIONS & RULES This area caters to off-highway vehicle users, but there are some rules to follow. The designated trails are a must, so don’t be tempted to go off-trail or you could face fines. Please be respectful of the natural surroundings. There is visible damage to trees in some campsites due to graffiti and tree carving and some trees have died due to the vandalism. Be mindful that others will be visiting the surroundings and be responsible and respectful of this beautiful park! Quiet hours are enforced, which helps keep the noise down at night, but it can still get a bit noisy during the day when people are riding. IMPORTANT: If you are camping here, you’ll need a Public Lands Camping Pass, which is required for all Crown land camping in the area. BEST TIMES TO VISIT If you’re visiting in the summer, book early or get there early, as this place fills up fast, especially on weekends. Fall is another great time to visit when the trails are a bit quieter, and the leaves are changing colors. Winter camping is also an option if you do snowmobiling. McLean has some excellent winter trails. RESERVATIONS Some sites are first-come, first-served, but you can also reserve ahead through Alberta Parks, which is an excellent idea during peak times. Overall, McLean Campground is a great choice if you enjoy using OHVs and experiencing outdoor adventures. It’s close enough to Calgary for a weekend trip and away from the city.
