The walk-in campsites are simply a field with no trees in between campsites so no privacy whatsoever. The field itself is fenced off by a wooden fence to block off the day users from walking right through as it is right next to day beach/park space. There is only communal campfires to be shared with your fellow neighbours. The only pros I guess is that it cost 22$ it's good if you're on a budget and you don't have to make a reservation. Honestly wouldn't mind paying more for a little more privacy for a reserved camping spot.

Beautiful campground, trees are amazing! The mixed smell of cedar trees and ocean air is great! We stayed for almost a week. Great treed spots with good distance between sites and just a short stroll to the beach! Cool combination...and Parksville has all the amenities if you want to venture outside the campground, either driving or biking. Down sides are the cost of firewood...$10 for 4-5 split pieces of wood! Not so good. Spent $40 on wood for just a couple of hours of a fire. There is no power anywhere and my solar panels didn't work because the sun rarely reaches through the canopy if trees. Power would make it perfect. Oh, and take your own toilet paper. One play toilet paper should be banned...there is no way it saves any money! I still really enjoyed the campground anyway...just take a generator.

Great campground. It’s big and we had no trouble finding a nice pitch without reservations in late September. Plenty of clean bathrooms and showers. Pitches are well spaced. Many have enough vegetation around to provide some privacy. Plenty of walking trails when the tide is too high to walk out on the beach. When the tide is out, fabulous walking on the tidal flats.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rathtrevor Campground. The campsites are beautifully located among the trees and we were just a short distance (1 minute walk?) from the beach. Gorgeous sunsets and lots of paths for walking along the beach area or in the forest. We'll be back!
