Considerations

The community atmosphere is welcoming, with fellow campers often being respectful and friendly. Despite minor drawbacks, such as swimmers' itch and hot showers, the campground remains a preferred destination. Its diverse activities and clean, spacious sites make it a location worth visiting repeatedly.

I have been coming to this campground for years, never ever had a problem. The people they have working there are always in a good mood and make you feel welcome. The campsites are always clean and semi private (ones I've used anyways) The beaches are clean and the atmosphere is even better. If you're looking for a good time and fun activi with the kids this would be good for you. They have showers to clean yourself and there is even a couple washer and dryers for you to use ($2 per washer/dryer) Don't forget to bring your own laundry soap, fabrics softener and dryer sheets! You can expect your neighbors to be very respectful and quiet and some might even say Hi! I will definitely will be coming here to for years to come! Did I mention they have a canoe you can rent hourly?

My family and I love to camp here or even just for a day at the beach every summer. We usually take our lunch at the beach so kids can play and swim and go back to the camp before dinner.

I love Candle Lake! Great sites! Really nice walking path, sandy beaches, water is great to paddle board on, and just discovered a nice disk golf course 45 min leisurely walk from our campsite (much shorter to drive obviously!!) Bathrooms are ok, the ones near our site were dark but always had toilet paper and never felt (or smelled) gross. The bathrooms with showers were nice enough. Lots of spots with water for dishes. Love the laundry room as it has a nice big sink.

We really love this campground. We like the amount of privacy many of the sites have and how spacious they are. The beach is really nice with how far out you can go before it gets deep. It really helps keep track of your kids. Now there is the inflatable playground in the water which we enjoyed. Hiking trails are around if you like that sort of thing. The Aschim Homestead hike is well trying. I am taking one star off for a couple things. Our site wasn’t cleaned up when we got there. There was garbage in the fire pit and it was 2/3 full of ash. The temperature of the showers is crazy hot. Forget using them if you have had too much sun that day. And finally, the lake has swimmers itch right now. When we went to the campground office to ask if they could put up signs to warn people we were told that Candle Lake doesn’t get the itch. Not only my family’s bodies had it though, it was a lot of people who got it. I understand you can’t do anything about a lake having swimmers itch, but it should be acknowledged and signs should be in place warning swimmers. Their response was very discouraging. Really nice campground though.
