Highlights

  • Outstanding and accommodating staff who ensure a pleasant stay for all guests.
  • Quiet and clean environment with well-maintained facilities, including bathrooms and trails.

Considerations

  • Campsites are quite close to each other, and some sites share amenities like fire pits and picnic tables.

Tips

  • Make the most of the pet-friendly trails and the off-leash beach area for dogs.
  • Take advantage of the small on-site store for camping essentials like firewood, marshmallows, and other convenience items.
  • Showers require $1 for use, so keep change handy.

Overall Thoughts: Shubie Campground is an urban oasis that balances convenience and nature. The staff’s dedication to guest satisfaction is evident, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for campers. Ideal for those looking to explore Halifax while still enjoying a tranquil camping environment, but be prepared for closer quarters and some highway noise.

Staff were AMAZING!! Just what I needed while living out of a van with two large dogs during finishing the build of my home. The campground was quiet and clean. Bathrooms always clean. Great trails near by and a lovely little beach. Had to stay 3 weeks and all the staff were amazing. The manger went above and beyond to ensure my stay was as comfortable as possible. The team all seem to work well together and get the job done with a great attitude! Making any campers stay wonderful! Thanks Shubie Campground staff!

Great service/ conveniently located near Halifax. We were supposed to stay 2 nights but due to a mechanical problem with our truck on the highway we stayed 4 additional nights. The friendly owners found us a place despite the busy holiday season. They also found someone to change the location of our fifth wheel since our truck was in the garage. Perfect location for visiting Halifax and surrounding attractions. Beautiful accessible trails from the campsite leading to a beach and other trails where dogs can run off leash and even have access to a beach for swimming 🐶 Thank you again for your dedication, it made our stay pleasant despite our incident with our truck. A camping in the city. Nice lake. Facilities had seen better days, there are one two showers in the men's washroom and one was not working in one of the days. Lake close by is nice, community is very quite, not loud noises coming from within the camping, but I cannot say the same about the highway close by, if you are looking for silence and birds singing, bring your white noise machine along.

The Staff at the front is really nice and accommodating. The Camp sites are very very close to each other. We did not have our own fire pit. It was almost with the next campsite and was being used by them. Same with the picnic table, we did not have our own. Whereas our neighbours had it. So campsites are tight but okay considering it is a city campground not a park. Yes, it is close to the highway and some sounds can be heard. We were able to listen to both our neighbours talking and kids playing at 6 am (that close). The location is great, close to ferry, grocery and food options. Showers are 1$ and clean. 2 showers for the whole campsite, be ready in advance.

The spot is excellent, pet friendly, near an epic trail with an off leash experience for your dogs… there is even a small beach near the lake! The facility is good with indoor bathrooms (showers for $1, laundromat), the wifi works well near the reception, they have a small store on site… firewood, marshmallows, beach towels, soap, ice, coffee, etc! The staff is very friendly and they deliver the firewood to your site. P.S. if you need kindling, just ask!
