Beautiful nature abound and plenty of songbirds. Great to learn about its history and the indigenous connection. Be prepared for mosquitoes. Road to the park and parking lot is poorly maintained and can damage your car.

A great place to take a long and slow walk or cycle outside. There are various nature trails that takes about 15 to 20 minutes to reach the far end from the front. Be aware that there are many potholes on the park roadway and that gates close when the park closes. Get your vehicle out before the stated closure time or your vehicle will be locked in. Unfortunately, it is not accessible through public transit. You can also hear the sounds of a nearby industrial company even near the back of the park.

There is outhouses and water for the dogs and people. The river side of the trail was nice and shady. The last part of what is the biggest loop is wide open with no shade. There is water on both sides but I wouldn't advise letting your dog(s) in it as it is so mucky. Our white socks of your dog were brown and stinky after he went in. Lots of spots to view the river from. Could use a few more benches along the trail though.

This was my first time visiting the park with my dog this afternoon. The walk was very enjoyable and not too many people on the path which was nice. You can still hear city noise throughout the walk but that's to be expected. A good chunk of the path is covered by trees that provide shade. Make sure to pack citronella spray for mosquitoes.

Huge clean picnic shelter with ample shade on a hot summer day. Large amount of space, but no green grass to play. Only red shelter has playable fields, the other fields are overgrown and dry. River access though pretty, is only a view and you cant go to the water. Barnston island ferry is only 5 minutes away and a fun excursion from a picnic in Surrey Bend
