We enjoyed our time at Wheatley! The weather was beautiful which I think made our experience even better. Our site was the perfect size with views of the creek and big mature trees that offered shade. We could walk to the beach in ~10 minutes. Beach is rocky and not many sandy spots in the water so water shoes are recommended. I appreciate that the front office was open into the late afternoon/evening so we could grab extra wood.

The staff were excellent, and the check-in process was straightforward. The campground was clean, but unfortunately, we chose site 59, which was quite small and lacked grass. The picnic table was rotten, and although they replaced it, the new one wasn't much better. Thankfully, site 60 was available, so we moved there. The washrooms were decent, though not as clean as those in northern parks. We visited from June 21-23, 2024, and encountered a lot of mosquitoes. Overall, it was an okay camping trip.

On our way home from Texas State Parks and Illinois State Parks, we were literally in a state of shock arriving here. The cost (58$ a night) for camping here is outrageous and a shame for a muddy campground and dirt roads full of pot holes and water. No water hookup either. Clearly, the province of Ontario didn't invest any money since the moment they built the installations. In the states we paid 27CAN$ a night for like new asphalt roads throughout the campsites. Campsites were on asphalt or concrete. Picnic tables were also on concrete pads. For this price we had electric and water hook up. Roads were wide and it was easy to back in. As it is, we paid more then double the price in Ontario for half the quality. So, in the end it is like 4 times more expensive. I would say the cost in Ontario Parks should be 15 to 20$ maximum per night for what you get. Not recommended and I will never camp again in an Ontario Provincial Park... and I live in Ontario!

This was an amazing crampground well thr middle one was all i saw but our site was great!! Nice water view and access for us to put our kayaks in this over flow river big spacious clean and covered site we had a good time, restrooms were clean playground near by couple bike paths a foot bridge leading to a private beach all around good campground
