About This Campsite

Welcome to Wrinkly Face Provincial Park, a hidden gem known for its breathtaking fields of wildflowers, especially stunning during the late spring months. Nestled amidst lush forests and scenic views, this park provides a perfect escape for nature lovers and adventurers seeking tranquility and natural beauty.

Highlights:

  • Experience the vibrant display of wildflowers in May and June. Be sure to remain on the paths to protect these fragile and sometimes endangered species.
  • The park’s approach can be challenging, with a dirt road and unexpected obstacles like large boulders. It's recommended to use a full-size truck or a Jeep for a smoother journey, especially after heavy rain which can affect road conditions.
  • While hiking the High Rim Trail, enjoy the spectacular views and fresh mountain air. Don't forget your mosquito repellent, as insects can be prevalent during certain times of the year.

Tips:

  • Parking: For those hiking, park at KM 10.8 along the yellow signs from Beaver Lake Road unless you intend to attract attention by overshooting your destination.
  • Consider the weather: On particularly hot days, be prepared with ample water and appropriate gear, as the remote path demands respect and readiness.

Overall Thoughts:

Wrinkly Face Provincial Park is a picturesque and serene destination that promises a captivating encounter with nature. Ideal for those willing to navigate its challenging access routes, the reward of colorful wildflowers and beautiful vistas makes the journey worthwhile for prepared travelers. Embrace the adventure and bask in the untouched beauty that awaits.

This tiny park features gorgeous fields of wildflowers in bloom in May/June. To access by road is rather difficult. The main entrance is off the side road that has several large boulders infront of it. The GPS coordinates for the main entrance are 50.04192, -119.30929. Stay on the paths during wildflower season as many of these species are fragile and endangered.

We hiked the High Rim Trail from Beaver Lake Road to the park. Wildflowers amazing right now. My photo does not do it justice. The hike in is about an hour on the well marked High Rim Trail. Bring mosquito repellent if you come. You park at KM 10.8 according to the yellow signs on the road so if you get to 11 you passed it. Head in the direction of Vernon to get to the park.

Getting up to Wrinkly is fun. Lots of altitude and great views of Kelowna. Wrinkly Face itself has lots of flowers early spring and the forest is old. Nice spot!

As of August 13th the dirt road is washed out. A full size truck or jeep would be okay but cars and mid size SUV could get damaged trying to cross the washed out area.

We took the Beaver Lake Road, planning to turn on the road to Wrinkly Face, but the sign at the turn-off indicated it was 12km to the park. The road is the sort with two well worn tracks with grass in between. We felt it was too far to go and be safe on a 32 degree day.
